posted by: anonymous. 2008-08-11 I know how much you are devoted to green living, so I wanted to pass this along. In case you are unaware--several companies already operate under the name of "eco realty" within the US and in other countries as well--it's as bad as calling yourself the "green team". Since it's already being used by various individuals nationwide, you can not get a national trademark on it and you have no rights to the name. You may be able to get rights just in Colorado, but that kind of defeats the whole "international" thing doesn't it? The trademark examiners won't just let you plop a word on the end especially a generic term like "international" because that makes it even more confusingly similar to the competitions, not to mention that "Eco Realty International" is also in use by two other companies. Anyway, I thought I'd save you some advertising money and embarrassment. I learned the hard way myself. Do a thorough search before picking a name--It's an expensive mistake if someone else is already using it in your field. Anyway, best of luck to you!
