Medlock Ames is an Anderson Valley winery founded upon some strong principles of environmental sustainability as well as the production of premier quality wine. The vineyards are farmed organically with no insecticides, chemical fertilizers or herbicides and solar power provides the energy needed to run. They believe that that the land they farm is their greatest asset, and Medlock Ames takes every precaution to nurture and protect it. The winery also partners with local wildlife (owls and hawks make excellent gopher foes for example) and have reserved the majority of the acreage for oaks and wildflowers, not vines.

WHAT IS ECO-WINE® ? ECO-WINE® is our trade-marked name for our sulfite free Organic wines. Amity released Oregon's first organically grown, sulfite free Pinot noir in 1991. Winemaker Myron Redford commented “The challenge was to make a wine about which people say, ‘This is good Pinot noir’, not ‘This is good, for an organic sulfite free Pinot noir.’ I was convinced that with good grapes and careful cellar practices Amity could make good Pinot noir and bottle it without sulfites and we did!” In 2006, the T.T.B., the federal agency regulating wine labels, made us change “Sulfite free” to “No Detectable Sulfites”. The wine is still “Sulfite Free” as it has been for the past 16 years. In 2006 we expanded our ECO-WINE ® family to include Gamay noir, Marechal Foch & a Chardonnay/Pinot blanc blend.
