The Low Down On Green Living
June 8th, 2008
For those of you green news junkies out there, The Huffington Post has just launched a new “Eco-News and Opinion” section of their site– Huffington Post Green. We are thrilled to see them adding their editorial perspective and flair to the important realm of green reporting.
Your friends here at Low Impact Living are particularly excited about the launch as we will be joining the ranks of the site’s green bloggers. You can see my first post in which I joyously sing “Ding, Dong, the Hummer’s Dead!”
Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington says about the decision to launch the new green endeavor:
“Ever since we launched HuffPost, environmental issues have been a significant part of our focus — indeed, part of our DNA. In fact, long before HuffPost was even a twinkle in our eye, I was championing, via the Detroit Project, the need to push the nation’s energy policy in a more sustainable direction — better both for our environment and our national security. And our HuffPost community has made it clear that you are interested in learning about — and talking about — living in a more environmentally-friendly way.” Read more on her thoughts here.
Here is just a sampling of some of the great writing to be found on the new green section:
Shifting Towards a Greener Life — by eco-luminary Laurie David.
Study Shows Green Is Sexy: Fuel- efficient — The new chick magnet? “Close to nine in 10 women (88 percent) say they’d rather chat up someone with the latest fuel-efficient car versus the latest sports car.”
The Promise of Green Prefab: Is green prefab really green?
Sharing: A Truly Radical and Green Idea — Maybe sharing is one of the keys to saving our own personal economies — and the planet. When I look around in my neighborhood I see every family has their own mower, multiple cars, and washers, and while some folks probably use these frequently, many don’t. Why aren’t we sharing?
